Window of the Chapter House

July 22, 2010

Hello everyone! I’ve been very busy lately due to professional reasons but I’m back and to celebrate I would like to present one of the great constructions I’ve seen lately. Romão ans his students built the window of the Chapter house that belongs to the Convent of the Order of Christ at Tomar – Portugal, classified by UNESCO as World Heritage.

The Convent of the Order of Christ was originally built in 12th century as a Templar stronghold. After the Order of the Knights Templar was dissolved in the 14th century, the Portuguese branch of the order was turned into the Knights of the Order of Christ, which supported Portugal’s maritime discoveries of the 15th century.

Romão is, in my opinion, one of the best Portuguese builders, his portfolio includes the Cathedral of St. Macario.

She’s a which! Burn her.

March 16, 2010

The satire of discovering if someone is a which, immortalized by Monty Pythons in Holy grail, hides a dark reality of middle ages. Matija Grguric shows us that reality on a series of three vignettes.

“Mother is making a warm meel for her sick child. She heard that this recipe will make him healthier.”

“Priest and warrior break into her house. Priest claims that he has a legal documents which says that she is a witch. Warrior kicks her and forces her to leave her home.”

“Another useless punishment is done.”

Back to medieval ages again, today History Bricks presents the St. Cadoc’s Church, built by Luke Watkins. The church is part of the outer village of his Camelot project. Among all the beautiful I will point the shiny bell at the top of the tower.
