The battle of Cherbourg

August 23, 2010

Andrew made a cool representation of the Cherbourg liberation day that took place some days after D-day. Chergbourg was a strategic point of the Allied campaign to reconquer Europe from the Nazi occupation. The diorama illustrates French civilians emerging from their hidings to welcome the allied troops and the heavy damage in the buildings caused by the long days of battle. This construction deserves that we take a few moments to explore all the details, such as the bullets holes, the damage walls and the high-detailed M4 Sherman tank!

The British ultimatum

August 18, 2010

Cuahchic built an interesting historical moment of the meeting under a wild fig tree on the Lower Thukela Drift, Natal Province, on 11th December 1878, between the Zulu’s king envoys and the British colony representatives. Present at this historic meeting was John Wesley Shepstone – Frere’s representative – who read to the Zulus a British ultimatum. You may read more about it at the MOC’s page.

The tree if the most notable detail were Cuahchic applied good techniques to get the volume effect of the tree leaves.

Medieval Layout of Arte em Peças

August 9, 2010

Arte em Peças” (Art with bricks), was an event that occurred from 7 to 13 June in Paredes de Coura and organized by the 0937 Community.

History Bricks already presented the House of History that was one of the MOCs unveiled during the exhibition. This time, I’ll present the medieval layout. The layout is very interesting and shows the assault of the castle with a huge army.

Battalion Aid Station

August 7, 2010

Dunechaser presents a MOC of World War II where “Medics provide treatment to casualties at a Battalion Aid Station in early June 1944, as an M3 Half-track rumbles by in a muddy lane behind the bullet-riddled farmhouse wall”.

The amount of details turns this construction into an incredible representation of a war scene. The bullet holes at different levels in the wall, the medic carrying the bandage made with a door piece, the tent made up of skate ramps, and other great details…

1919 T-Bucket/ Fokker DR1

May 23, 2010

I’m trying to go back on track with good historical MOCs. For today post, I would like to present this pair of brilliant World War I MOCs built by Lino M. The first MOC is a representation of a Ford Model-T while the plane is a Fokker DR1 Triplane, the same model as the famous Red Baron.

See more details of theses constructions here.

Great War frontline

April 24, 2010

Kris Kelvin built an amazing representation of the Great War western front. The pieces of artillery and the vehicles have great details and together with the minifigs made a very interesting historical picture.

Medieval weapons

April 16, 2010

Reading one of The Brothers Brick post, I found a great set of medieval weapons built by Nnenn. He used simple but yet very efficient techniques.

Flames of the Pacific

April 14, 2010

Darth Yoda made an interesting war scene in the pacific. It’s not easy to recreate war scenes with LEGO bricks and Darth Yoda use some custom bricks in this MOC such as the minifigs helmets.

Ninja weaponery

March 14, 2010

I missed a good ninja MOC but Aaron filled that gap by presenting a nice set of ninja weapons. I’m not sure about the real scale, but I would say that they fit between half and full-size comparing to real ones.

You may see the original picture here.

Just a quick footnote, ninjas were in fact mercenaries of feudal Japan that became very popular in the USA and Europe culture at the XX century.
