It’s with great pleasure and satisfaction that I come to announce that History Bricks has a new author. Sérgio Antunes agreed to participate, and I have no doubt that his skills as an historian and his past as AFOL will be of great value in the growth and promotion of the blog.

The idea came up during a conversation while commenting his work in PLUG’s event Brincka 2013 at Porto Salvo. He participated with an incredible Napoleonic Army.

Normandy 1944

I came across this wonderful layout of a world war II battle in Normandy, made by Lugpol members Pit Mrutek Rasch Glaz Pimpur dmac Borys Misiek Axel Nexus 7 Matix Szarik Kris Kelvin and many other water helpers.

The amount of detail is incredibly vast that is difficult to enumerate and where to start. I will mention just a few details that caught my attention: the notion of movement in the water, the explosions, the detail of the studless vehicles and mainly the many scenes with minifigs that give life to this scenario.

Sacking of Colchester by Boudica

James Pegrum and Malravion assembled together several MOCs, including the Roman Colchester Theater, bringing to life this awesome roman layout describing an assault of enemy troops into the city.

James Pegrum is one of my favorite “historical builder”. Today he presented us a wonderful creation of a Roman theater.

The applied techniques are rather simple, however he managed to capture with great detail the grandiosity of the ancient building.

Guimarães Castle WIP

Romão Santos is already a well known builder because of his huge constructions and involvement in the social project “Projecto Construir” (“Building project”). “Projecto Construir” is an initiative in social entrepreneurship aimed at providing support for institutionalized persons, in particular children, providing them unique moments in nature playful and educational, through their involvement in the construction of large-scale models with LEGO® bricks.

His current project consists of building a large-scale model of the castle Guimarães. Guimarães is the first capital city of Portugal and its castle an important landmark of the country. Check how great the castle’s model is turning into to

Colonial Outpost

The Colonial Outpost is a great construction from The Brick Time Team. It caught my attention because of the elaborated techniques for building the water, the fine detail of the rocks and most important the micro-detail using round bricks on the walls.

TheBrickMan is the author of one of the best historical recreations I have seen lately. The LEGO Colosseum has a huge amount of details and the mix of the past and present is phenomenal!

Modular Western Town

Modular Western Town project has been live on LEGO Cuusoo since October 2011. The Brothers Brick, Eurobricks, Brickset, Toys N Bricks and others have been supporting this project for a while. I would like to join them supporting too this great idea of extending the modular building concept to the old West!
Let’s take one step further to bring this idea to reality by supporting the project here.

Lisbon tram

Till.Uwe.Marwede managed to capture really well the essence of the old Carris Tourist Tram. The chosen scale let him to share incredible details.

I always got fascinated with these means of transportation. In fact, I’m the author of another version of the Carris trams at a smaller scale, as you can see in the next picture
