New LEGO Egyptian Theme

September 22, 2010

Good news for all historical LEGO Enthusiasts, LEGO is planning a new Egyptian Theme for 2011 under the designation of “The Pharaoh’s Quest”. Nausicaakro supplied some pictures at Eurobricks.

The new theme reminds me the old 1998 Adventures theme, and as we should expect, we’ll see again the “good guys” fighting the “bad guys” and many fantasy elements. Anyways, I still think that a re-edition of an Egyptian theme is very good news that will bring a set of brand new parts. After analyzing the pictures I could enumerate bricks with amazing decals, scepters, wings, weapons, baseplates and cool new minifigs.

Here’s the list of new sets:

  • 7327 Pyramid of Pharaoh € 99.99 (including half-track)
  • 7325 Enchanted cobra € 29.99
  • 7307 Duel in the air 19.99 (Toller biplane)
  • 7306 Race for the gold bar € 9.99
  • 7305 attack of scarab € 4.99
  • 7326 Mysterious Sphinx € 49.99

This information was found in a post by Quex on 1000steinne.de.

Tervlon announced in his gallery at flickr that all images are preliminary and may change before release next year. These are taken from the European retailer catalog that is used to place orders for next years assortment.

Marcos Bessa becames Lego Designer

September 3, 2010

My sincere congratulations to Marcos Bessa that announced today at his blog that he got the job of LEGO Designer at Billund and became the first Portuguese to work in this position (as far as I know).

I follow his constructions for some years and published some at History Bricks (the last was the House of History).

You may read his adventure at Billund in his blog (sorry, but it’s only in Portuguese).

Abandoned Museum

September 3, 2010

A few weeks ago HistoryBricks presented the museum built by Marcos Bessa, today, I’ll present another wonderful museum built by SlyOwl but this time, the museum was sadly abandoned.

The modular building shows great details such as the broken window, the hobo asking for charity and the cool exhibition in the interior.

Read more about it at Eurobricks.

I’m getting marryed!

August 21, 2010

Dear readers, today I would like to announce one of the most important and happy days of my life as I’m getting married at this precisely moment in the Alcobaça’s Monastery with my future wife – Vilma :D

To symbolize our union and love, my dearest friends of JRS made for us this awesome symbol based on the Olive tree.

Here’s also a picture of the Monastery.

Photo taken by Carlos Pedro and published here.

I’ll be back soon with more LEGO news ;)

The house of history

July 26, 2010

Marcos Bessa, another great Portuguese builder, presents this incredibly Museum with one of the most beautiful staircase I’ve seen lately.

I know that the construction isn’t directly related with human history, but stills represents one of the most important places we can visit to find information about it :)

History Bricks needs you

May 22, 2010

I apologize for being away during this last days but my work is driving me crazy again! Due to the lack of time, it made me think that probably I should find some help to maintain History Bricks always on track.

Therefore, if you love LEGO in first place and you think that you could give something to others through History Bricks, please let me know ;)

Meanwhile, new LEGO MOCs come right next.

Orange Game

April 6, 2010

Today, I would like to present a different kind of MOC :)

Last year, in my company we’ve built a prototype for demonstration purpose of a small game for kids. The game consisted on a simple style RPG with multiple challenges. Since one of those challenges became very popular between testers we’ve decided to publish it on the web and build a port to iPhone so other people could play it everywhere.

Here’s a screenshot of the game and the link to the official website: http://orangegame.zpx.pt

I hope you like it :)

February 28, 2010

A friend of mine sent me the link to this nice post in the WebUrbanist that collects 31 examples of Lego Architecture. Since most of them are landmarks that belong to our human history, I though that HistoryBricks’ readers would  appreciate it :)

Fort Magnis

February 8, 2010

Today we have a new masterpiece by Derfel Cadarn. The fort Magnis is an imperial fortress with a nice port, very cool rounded walls and other great construction techniques. Is the first time I see a palm tree using this type of foliage’s bricks. Well done!
